Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! Right, well, I should be getting to bed already, but after all that Christmas excitement and candy, who can sleep? We had a great time today opening presents and just basically lazing around in our pjs. The kids all made gifts for each other and for Mom and Dad, and those were the best ones by far. Gran sent Jake a Texas Longhorns cap, which sent Dad into a competitive frenzy. Doesn't she know that Texas and OU are arch rivals?

Mom and Sadie made some jewelry with the kit grandma got for her and then Mom spent three hours trying to apply glow-in-the-dark constellations in their proper relation to one another on Ira's ceiling. Good times. In the afternoon we enjoyed a little bit of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" with a big bowl of popcorn. We had a nice Christmas dinner (made by mom) with turkey and stuffing and everything, then topped it off with chocolate cream pie that was so rich no one could finish it. After that, we watched a movie and each ate a bag of candy. No kidding. We think the kids are all asleep downstairs, but then again they could be in a diabetic coma from all the sugar. Last night we let them open their traditional Christmas pajamas, but only after Jake performed a lovely Christmas concert on his trumpet. After resounding applause from the whole family, he even gave an encore. Bravo!

Ah, the good old days, when I barely knew what a trumpet was, let alone how to actually PLAY it.
